Fancy Equipment

Rhys has this amazing ability to be happy and adapt to overcome challenges. He is robust and resilient and I could not be more proud! These are just some of the pieces of equipment he has used over the past 5 years.

Every single one of them he has met with a smile and barely complained, He really is such a special little boy. Looking back at these photos we can see how far he's come, how much hard work he has done! It makes me so happy but also so mad at the same time because he's had to go through all this... his muscle disease sucks balls!!!

As his mama it kills me to watch him struggle on a daily basis, it breaks my heart. He falls constantly and physically. Actually getting back up is so difficult for him and uses so much energy, it isn't fair. He will be sitting on a chair watching tv and all of a sudden he can't hold up his head anymore and he falls to the ground, he has so many scars on the inside of his lip and a chipped tooth from falling over the years. He has to wear a helmet outside of the house so he doesn't split his head open again or get a concussion. When we go out and he is able to walk he has to wear a helmet, belly band, ankle splints and use a walker just so he's safe and people will stop and stare. There is so much more but this is a blog not a novel so I will stop haha.
